When buying new windows you expect them to last for many years to come. They are a big investment so you expect high quality materials to be used so that they can handle the turbulence of the British weather and still stay in great condition, whilst also keeping your home safe and secure. Unfortunately however this is not always the case!
The first thing to look out for when buying new windows is to ensure you buy from an established company which has a great reputation. Ask around and find out what supplier your friends and family have used - that way you can have peace of mind that you will be buying from a reputable company.
The worst thing about choosing a poor quality supplier is that they may not have used the highest quality materials when manufacturing their window frames. There is a type of upvc which is called ‘regrind’ which some of these suppliers use. This is when they manufacture their frames using a large amount of reground scrap and cut off upvc. They use this to bulk out their materials so that they can save money on the amount they pay out on virgin materials. So ultimately their upvc is of a low quality.
course if you are based in the South we are a windows and doors suppliers in Surrey, so would be happy to help you and you can rest assured that your new doors and windows will last for many years to come.
Problems with using regrind upvc:
1. Bowed windows: this is when it looks as though your frames are drooping and is usually caused by poor quality upvc which has not been reinforced.
2. Discolored frames: this is when frames start to get a pink or yellow tinge to them. Obviously this is not attractive at all and can leave your home looking old and tired. This is the last thing you want after shelling out for brand new windows to help transform your home in the first place. Having discoloured frames is also a sign that your windows are unlikely to be long lasting and durable.
So when speaking to your windows supplier it is important to ask if they use regrind upvc when manufacturing their windows. If the answer is yes then you know to look elsewhere!
